Tell Congress to Protect the DBE Program and America’s Small Businesses

For nearly four decades, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program has created opportunities for women-owned businesses to compete fairly for federally funded transportation construction contracts.

But now, the DBE Program is under threat — facing mounting legal challenges, lack of support from federal leadership, and growing political opposition. Without Congressional action to reauthorize and defend the DBE Program, tens of thousands of small businesses—and the communities they serve—could be left behind.

The DBE Program is a proven, common sense solution that:

• Levels the playing field for local, certified small businesses.
• Helps remedy historic and ongoing discrimination in federal contracting.
• Supports more than 50,000 women- and minority-owned businesses and their 500,000 employees.
• Boosts local economies through job creation and infrastructure development.

We urge Congress to immediately reauthorize and protect the DBE Program. Small businesses deserve a fair shot—not just in theory, but in practice. Preserving this program means preserving American jobs, local investment, and the entrepreneurial spirit that drives our economy.
