This October, a coalition of Women First Trustees and DBEs of America members have their sights set on our nation’s capital with one goal in mind: securing congressional reauthorization of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program. This program ensures women- and minority-owned businesses in America’s transportation infrastructure industry have the chance to be competitive.
Following up on their July Capitol Hill campaign, this coalition of advocates and women and minority business owners will participate in a week of meetings with strategically targeted lawmakers who sit on committees that will decide the fate of this program. There, they will make their case for why Congress must reauthorize the DBE program: it creates jobs, pumps investment into their communities, and fuels local economic growth.
If you’re interested in joining the coalition, there are multiple ways you can join this fight. If you’d like to walk the halls of Congress, making the case for DBEs hand-in-hand with advocates and business leaders, this is your opportunity. You can register to attend at dbesofamerica.org/events. If you can’t make it to D.C., there are ways for you to make sure your voice is heard. To act, please reach out to info@dbesofamerica.org.
